King Arthur lesson plan activity


Objectives

• Students should become acquainted with some of the literary legends of English speaking countries.
• Students should develop the capability to comprehend a short story text .
• Develop new English literary vocabulary.

Activity

• Pre reading-Ask students if they are familiar with some English historical legends.
-Recall if they`v watched some movies about King Arthur.
- Present to class a brief historical and legendary background on
King Arthur.(Video trailer)
-Instruct them ot Look for picture, words to give a clue on this text.
-Give predictive exercises to class.

• While reading- Ask what are the main ideas of this text.
- Make them answer questions regarding the story.
- Matching exercises :Words and people and their contextual meaning.


• Post reading- Vocabulary: context meaning for some old English words.
(multiple choice).
Grammar: Past tense of regular and irregular verbs.

Strategies-

• Recall students interests by asking questions related to their knowledge of legends and medieval movies.
• Reacall their attention by asking them if they had personal conquests and what is their opinion on the culture and customs of that historical period.

Materials-

• Exercise handout,data show,video,speakers

Timing-

• 2.5 hr class



Problems/ solution

• Help Students activate background knowledge on King Arthur.
• Help students in answering questions about the text.
• Make instructions clear, and help students with vocabulary and grammar doubts.



Evaluation
• Check students interests in this historical legend.
• See how is their reading comprehension ability through the exercises.
• Check out if they learn new vocabulary and grammar.
